THIS WEEK'S JOB // Learn the design elements every good storefront uses, before you touch code. (Book pages 55-62 in Mrs. Gaiser's book.)
THE THREE IDEAS
Layout, color, type, images
Every page you have ever liked was those four things arranged well. Every page you have ever hated was those four things arranged badly.
Contrast is kindness
Dark text on light, or light on dark. If a visitor squints, the design failed, no matter how pretty it is.
White space is not wasted space
Empty room around things makes the things readable. Cramming every corner is what makes pages feel like yard sales.
ON YOUR LOT
Find one real website with great contrast and one with terrible contrast. Bring both to class and defend your verdicts.
